Justin Bieber taunts the police.

Canada's would-be-badass pop star flaunts his supposed superiority to mere police officers:
Bieber, who pleaded not guilty to DUI and other charges, also contested that he was drag-racing when the police arrested him and a friend in separate cars at a street blocked off by SUVs. As with his expletive-imbued arrest report, this new document, which described Bieber as "agitated and condescending," said he questioned why he was arrested.
"He then got upset and said, 'I'm 19 years old. I'm just out having a good time,'" the report said, quoting an officer. "'What were you doing when you were 19?'" When the policeman said he was not driving a yellow Lamborghini around, Bieber replied, "Yeah, well, I bet you didn't have millions of dollars in your bank account either."

Another random comments post in homage to old Larry King USA TODAY columns.

1. The faux-French-film trailer for B.J. Novak's new book (with guest appearance from a colleague of his) is quite funny: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/books/2014/01/book-trailer-bj-novaks-one-more-thing.html

2. Hoping that Justin Bieber won't be the Amy Winehouse of his generation.

3. Regarding the current Rob Ford behaving badly video, both Ford's racism and the young man wanting Ford to be Canada's Prime Minister are disturbing.

4. Whatever one may think of Richard Sherman's post-game yelling when being interviewed by Erin Andrews on Sunday, he's certainly right to say afterwards that "thug" is the new white-person euphemism for the n-word.

5. Anderson Cooper, when substitute-hosting on KELLY AND MICHAEL this morning, made reference to Justin Bieber's Miami arrest as being part of his "Rumspringa year."

6. Earlier, I read this profile of actress Thora Birch (who had her most iconic role as Enid in 2001's GHOST WORLD) in London's GUARDIAN.  To me, she's been missed rather than forgotten: http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jan/23/thora-birch-hollywood-darling-disappeared

Justin Bieber's entourage-enabled behavior--and a similar incident I once witnessed.

What the Justin Bieber urination incident (topped with a chaser of Bill Clinton abuse) teaches:
if you're a young male star with a young male entourage in tow, everything you do is cool.

About 23 years ago, I was an extra (hired, but not used that day) on a critically-acclaimed film noir partially shot at an old, ornate apartment building in L.A.'s Wilshire District.  Nearby was a storage area, where the Young Male Star and friends practiced throwing a football at a glass window.  Presumably it was a game to see how to throw the football at the window without causing breakage.

Eventually, an older man came out and told the Young Male Star and his friends to stop.  They stopped.

I saw this and kept silent; I didn't want to lose a day's pay and be blackballed from the casting agency who sent me on the job.

And, in retrospect, the Young Male Star (now middle-aged and still active in films) was blessed with living in a time where cell phones were few and primitive--and tabloid TV hadn't evolved (or devolved) into the TMZ era.
